What your business can use it for

  • Site selectionCheck whether a candidate office, shop or depot can get gigabit broadband before you take the lease.
  • Market analysisCompare areas on the broadband that homeworkers, buyers and tenants now expect, and see where full-speed connections are still missing.
  • Sales prospectingFind the postcodes where premises still cannot get decent broadband — the market for wireless, satellite and installation providers.

Works with data you already have

  • Your property, site or customer postcodesPostcodesSupplied both with and without the space (postcode, postcode_space); output-area and council-level files carry premises counts as well.

How to get it

  • Connected Nations spring 2026 update — data downloadsBulk downloadNo account needed. One 34 MB zip of CSVs by postcode, output area, council and constituency, with an 'about this data' PDF for each. Published twice a year — the main report towards the end of the year and an update in spring — each on a new page.

What's involved in using it

  • The postcode figures come as 121 separate files, one per postcode area, which have to be stacked together before you can look anything up.
  • Each postcode gets percentages of premises, not counts — 80% gigabit means one in five premises there can't get it — and you can't add postcodes up into an area total without a premises count from somewhere else.
  • Every release has a new page and new file names, and corrected files can be reissued months later (the spring 2026 postcode files were), so a refresh means reading Ofcom's notes rather than re-running the same download.
The technical detail, for whoever sets it up (3)
  • Coverage means a provider can sell that speed there — not that anyone has bought it, or that it reaches that speed in practice.
  • Full fibre is reported by council and constituency only; by postcode Ofcom reports gigabit-capable coverage instead.
  • Mobile signal is published by council and constituency only. Postcode-level mobile figures need a registered account with Ofcom.
